Same God. Same Bible. Today's Questions

Wedding

When you ask to have your wedding ceremony in the Church, and/or presided over by a Priest or Minister of the Christian faith, you are requesting the rite of Christian marriage. In addition to the joining of two people before God and witnesses in a loving, life-long relationship, the couple also commits to living their married life in such a way that the love they share will be a reflection of the love of God for the world.

The Anglican Church requires that at least one member of the couple is baptized, and that all candidates for marriage (or remarriage) in the Church undertake a course of formal marriage preparation, either with the Rector of the parish or from a person qualified to offer such programs. In addition, several meetings with the Rector will be required in order to discuss and finalize the details of the service.  Those wishing to make arrangements for a wedding in the church are strongly advised to consult with the Rector around dates and availability before confirming the date with reception halls and photographers.  A minimum of six months lead time is generally advised.
